Religious Narratives and Symbolic Resources

Religion was and still is a central part of cultural symbol systems. European history of culture and interpretation is shaped by religious narratives, particularly (yet not exclusively) by the three monotheistic religions, which still provide significant resources for lifeworld and thought up to the present. The research area "Religious Narratives and Symbolic Resources" considers itself a platform for the interdisciplinary analysis of all who examine subjects surrounding "religion" from the perspective of their various disciplines. This area is very consciously open to different methodical approaches and hence combines history- and present-oriented as well as descriptive and discursive approaches.Advancing the communication between research activities of different disciplines at the University of Graz and initiating mutual projects on different levels is the essential aim of the research area "Religious Narratives and Symbolic Resources".
